We didn\u2019t have anything planned for the morning, so we got a late start and slept in (much needed). We took our time in the morning and relaxed. We did take some time to go out and get a cappuccino and croissant at the place near Sean\u2019s apartment, and it was lovely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another Day, Another Cappuccino<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Our first stop for the day was lunch at Dal Bolognese, a restaurant in the center of Piazza del Populo and Aunt Nancy\u2019s favorite restaurant. The food was incredible<\/em>. We got bufala mozarella, prosciutto, artichokes, mortadella, and little fried cakes to put them on (just as the appetizer). We also ordered a fantastic red wine to go along with it. Aunt Nancy suggested the culatello pasta, which is prosciutto pasta where the prosciutto in the pasta is taken from the best part of the pig. Sarah got some delicious stuffed ravioli. It was all amazing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, we split up. Sarah went with Aunt Nancy to get a few extra clothing pieces and some makeup, while Eric went with Sean to walk around. It turned out that Sean forgot to let someone into his apartment, so Eric and him spent most of the time driving there and back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarah had a few items on her shopping list, since she hadn’t restocked since the start of the Honeymoon. Amazingly she still had enough face wash and shampoo to get her through the trip, but ran out of conditioner and heat protectant right after leaving Vietnam\u2014so the first stop was Sephora. Of course Aunt Nancy and Sarah got side tracked picking out the optimal lip color for them both with a very nice Sales Associate who complimented Aunt Nancy on her amazing “English Accent”. Once the necessities were secured, Sarah and Aunt Nancy went window shopping around all the amazing boutiques near Piazza del Popolo. Aunt Nancy showed Sarah how to dress like a European and she got a few statement pieces for the remainder of the trip and Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Couldn’t have had more perfect autumn afternoon for a stroll.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We met back up, said goodbye to Aunt Nancy, and walked around some more. We had to try one of Sean\u2019s favorite gelato shops, so we walked over to there and ordered (Eric got pistachio, but Sarah got granita, which is sort of like a slushy).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a big thing in Rome to have a snack around 6PM (since dinner is usually around 9), so we stopped into a nearby place and ordered an \u201caperitivo<\/strong>.\u201d We got a few flavors of Bellini, and it all came with little bites of food. Delicious!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aperitivos are one of Sarah’s favorite customs she learned about in Italy. We should bring them to the States!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

At this point, we were pretty exhausted from our long travels in general, and Sean was sick of eating out. So we went to the supermarket to pick up dinner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While there, Sarah made a friend at the deli counter, who let us try so many types of prosciutto (they must have had dozens). They had world-class proccutto selection at their fingertips and we were in heaven. We ended up settling on a sweet one and a more aged one\u2014both of which were excellent. We grabbed some bufala mozzarella, bread, marinated artichokes, and some other small things and then headed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The grocery store felt similar to the ones in America, but smaller with more Italian food.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

It was still early, so we watched some Black Mirror and an amazingly bad barbecue cooking competition show, and then we called it a night. We weren\u2019t even hungry because of our apertivo, so we didn\u2019t even open the food. All in all, it was the chill night we needed.
