Beach day! But first, we had to do a little laundry. Luckily, there were two washers and dryers in this hotel, so we were able to split up our loads and actually have them dry this time. In the meantime, Sarah found a great little bakery with amazing pastries; and we enjoyed a quick breakfast. We think we were literally the least cool people in the restaurant (not the first time).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because we were short on time, we basically immediately went into eating lunch. Feeling we needed something a little lighter, we went to a sushi train restaurant. We feasted on tuna and salmon sashimi and many smaller rolls (Eric tried the cuttlefish, which sort of weirdly coated his mouth\u2014but was good!). Eric ordered many custom rolls of salmon belly, which was perfectly tender and fatty. Like we said: something lighter. Perfect lunch!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sydney is amazing in that it has lots of coastline, and great beaches that are just a ferry away. So Sarah found an easy route on the ferry to Manly beach, where Eric took many Manly photos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We hopped on a tram near our hotel which took us to the dock. Then, we boarded the ferry to take us directly to the beach. Being able to take public transit regularly to the beach is Sarah\u2019s dream (next to being able to walk to it).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The beach had beautiful water and soft, light tan sand, and shining sun. It was slightly windy, but not enough to stop us from taking a nap in the sand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A little wind wasn\u2019t going to stop Sarah from finally enjoying her beach day.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We didn\u2019t have much time, so we grabbed some gelato (Sarah is still dreaming about the lemon mint sorbet that Eric got) and hopped on the ferry back, where we took some time to write thank you postcards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We rushed back to our hotel to change before the show, and headed back out on the tram to the Opera House. We actually got there early to make sure we got good standing room (a first), but it ended up not mattering too much, since there was ample balcony space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miss Saigon was a crazy musical; definitely one of the real \u201cblockbuster\u201d spectacles that only the 80s could produce, with a huge cast and amazing sets. The cast and dance numbers were marvelous, and we didn\u2019t even notice that we were standing the whole time. We also picked up a little inspiration for our own musical, which is hopefully coming soon!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miss Saigon was heartbreaking but an excellent production with incredible visual effects.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We weren\u2019t too hungry after the show, so we wandered around Chinatown in search of a small dishes place. We ended up literally next door to our hotel at a Malaysian restaurant called Malay Malay, where we got an amazing beef and roti dish and great pork buns. We even tried to order another round of beef and roti, but they told us it wasn\u2019t available (probably to kick us out\u2014it was 11:30 by then).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the only restaurant we found open after looking for half an hour. We weren\u2019t expecting much but the food was amazing! Can\u2019t believe it was next to our hotel this whole time (and by whole time we mean the 2 days we were in Sydney).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

If anyone is curious as to what traveling with Eric is like\u2014he kept practicing \u201cthe chad face\u201d over dinner.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Feeling full and exhausted, we went back to our hotel for (another) long day of travel in the morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
